A Letter from Our Head of School

Patriot Family,   On behalf of the faculty and staff at All Saints, we hope everyone had a safe and restorative summer break.  We are excited to get back to school and will welcome our new faculty and staff for orientation on Friday, August 5th.  The entire staff will be back Monday, August 8th for a week of professional development and preparation for the beginning of school. We are looking forward to the new year, and can’t wait to be back teaching our students. In the coming week, you will receive email communication on scheduling your parent conferences with your child’s teachers on Monday, August 15th, or Tuesday, August 16th.  Parent conferences will be expected for all Patriot Learning Center (PS-PK), Lower School (Kindergarten – Fourth grade) and Middle School (Fifth grade – Eighth grade) parents and will serve as the primary communication opportunity for teachers and parents at the beginning of school.  Last year, our parent conferences were a valuable start to our year, and we enjoyed a 97% participation rate with parents.  Throughout the school year, we will have three parent conferences that will include students and parents. This time with parents, students and teachers are vital as we all work together to ensure that we are meeting and exceeding the educational needs of each individual student. This was a fun summer at All Saints as we welcomed several students back to a full slate of art, academic and athletic camps, but nothing compares to the actual start of school.  The excitement level from the faculty is high, and we will be welcoming approximately 70 new students to All Saints.  The Patriot Family is growing and this promises to be another exciting and productive year at All Saints. Enjoy the last few days of your break, and we will see everyone soon.

SUMMER UPDATES

New School Website

All Saints introduced a new school website this week!  The upgrade allows us to offer faster technology, implement current trends and a better web presence that makes navigating the website easier for our parents and prospective families.

Seventy-Five percent of our visitors view the website on their mobile devices.  Our new website is mobile-friendly with a dedicated “Parent Hub” for quick access to important Parent information. Another exciting addition is the upgraded Live Chat option (found in the bottom right-hand corner).  This option will allow our admissions office along with the front desk to offer quick feedback to current and prospective families through text messaging.

We welcome you to visit our new website and see for yourself.  Oh, wait… you are already on the school website.  You may spend some time browsing by clicking on the menu at the top of the page!

Library Renovation

Our Facilities team led by Brett Longley has been working on Summer projects.  At the top of the list is the complete refurbishment and modernization of our library along with the addition of the pastoral Care Center that includes an office for Chaplain Paige who will serve as our full-time chaplain this year.

The upgraded library will allow for the creation of exciting spaces for group and collaborative work that can be utilized by all ages of students, and the implementation of an online library opens up virtually unlimited access for students and faculty to limitless books, periodicals, and top-level research services.

Establishing a Pastoral Care Center will allow ministry to the entire All Saints community – students, faculty, and families.

I am so excited to be starting the 2022-2023 school year here at All Saints. I will be in the Main Office working as an Administrative Assistant. Prior to ASES, I was a preschool educator for 30 years. I grew up in Maine and received my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Maine.

My daughter Lia is a graduate of Texas Tech and a nurse in Dallas and my son Ryan is an engineering student at Texas Tech. I am so looking forward to meeting all of the wonderful students, parents and faculty of ASES!

BOOSTER CLUB OFFERS NEW SPIRIT SHIRTS

Every Friday our students, faculty and staff are given the opportunity to wear All Saints spirit shirts in place of the daily uniform. It’s a favorite tradition among many of our Patriots.

As promised, Booster Club has fall sports apparel ready to order along with a new theatre shirt. Orders will remain open until September 20, 2022.

High School Volleyball will have a team shirt available to order once the roster is set. Here’s a look at the most recent additions to the Spirit Shirt collection for 2022-23. This is not all of the available styles, there are lots of designs to choose from – these are the most recent additions!
A special thank you to our hardworking Spiritwear Team: Angie Lane, Lauren Pinkston, Jennifer Burkett, Casandra Timberlake and Brittany Vaughn. Well done, ladies!

Hello, I’m Mrs. Lewis and I am thrilled to teach Kindergarten at All Saints.

After I graduated from Texas Tech University, I moved to Orlando, Florida, for an internship at Walt Disney World. I spent a year and a half as a Photopass Photographer at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. I moved back to Texas and married my college sweetheart, Matthew, in May 2021. We have spent the past year in Midland, where I served as a long-term substitute in 3rd grade and Kindergarten. I fell in love with being in the classroom and creating a safe space for children to learn and grow. I am happy to be back in Lubbock and look forward to being an All Saints Patriot!

Stephany Ford

Hi! My name is Stephany Ford and I have the privilege of joining All Saints as a Kindergarten teacher this year!

I have been a part of early childhood education for eighteen years, where I gained experience in teaching both Kindergarten and Pre-K. I love creating a passion for learning in my students and enjoy witnessing the “lightbulb moments” during their education. I am a graduate of Texas Tech University, where I met my husband, Curtis. We have been married twenty-four years; we have three amazing children Trinity, Garrett, and Jake. I am beyond delighted to become a part of All Saints, and I am even more excited to work with you and your beautiful children!

I look forward to the opportunity to grow and learn each and every day from my fellow Patriots!

Katy Beth Shaw

Hello, I’m Katy Beth Shaw and I’m so excited to be joining the All Saints community this year!

I have 3 kids—Beckham (who is in 9th grade), Lucy (who is in 4th grade), and Worth (who is 3 and is a future Patriot). I am married to James and we love to travel, cheer on our Frogs and spend time with our family and friends. I truly believe All Saints is a wonderful place and I’m so excited for this year!

FINE ARTS NEWS

NEW FINE ARTS FACULTY

MARTHA PEREZ

Martha Perez is joining All Saints as our new orchestra director and second grade math teacher in addition to offering after-school Suzuki violin sessions for Pre-K through 2nd grade. Mrs. Perez taught Suzuki violin with Suzuki Talent Education Lubbock Region program from 1998-2012. She also taught in orchestra programs in the area, most recently at Illes Elementary School. Mrs. Perez taught math at the Lubbock County Juveline Justice Center from 2012-2022. She is a member of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra and several surrounding community orchestras and a member of the mariachi group Mi Tierra. “Music uplifts me when I play an instrument and when I listen to it. I hope I will pass along the skills of enjoying it, playing it, and making music with others while practicing and performing well.” Mrs. Perez enjoys sewing/crafting, practicing violin, doing light weight lifting, reading history and the Bible. Besides making music, she enjoys spending time with her family and family baseball/softball.

AnnaRuth Aaron-DeSpain

AnnaRuth is excited to be joining the All Saints team as our new choir director.

She comes from a long line of professional musicians, entertainers, and artists and finds empowering people through voice and performance coaching immeasurably fulfilling. “When I first began working as a substitute arts teacher at All Saints, I had no idea how much I would come to love the students, teachers, and atmosphere here. It is my hope that students leave my classes with a solid set of music skills and knowledge, and more importantly, that the voices they find in music support their future endeavors with a stronger sense of self-confidence, creativity, and teamwork. In her spare time, Ms. Aaron-DeSpain enjoys appraising and restoring antique dolls (make sure to ask her about her part in the history of the Cabbage Patch Dolls).

PHYSICAL FORMS AND MEDICAL EXAMS FOR ATHLETICS

All participating students will be required to have a current Medical History form and Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation (PPE) on file in the athletic office before they can participate or practice.  This requirement will be for all participating students in grades 6-12.  All high school forms will be required to be uploaded into RankOne Sports, and all middle school forms can be submitted as a hard copy.

High School Directions:

The Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) utilizes an online data management platform, Rank One Sport, for all student health and safety, eligibility certification, communications, event registration, and management.  All extra-curricular activities and competitions for academics, fine arts, and athletics are managed through the Rank One Sports platform.

All health and eligibility forms are secured and managed online through a parent portal.  Your parent portal will be a one-time setup with one-time yearly maintenance.  It will support all of your children and all of their high school TAPPS activities with a single account.  If your high school child participated in fall/winter athletics or fall band/drumline at All Saints last year, you have already set up your portal and only need to update it with a medical history and a new pre-participation physical.

For the parents of new high school students and those who did not participate in volleyball, cross country, football, basketball, or fall band/drumline last year, you will need to set up your parent portal and complete the online forms. This must be done before your child will be cleared for activities.  The following is a step by step procedure:

  1. Go to www.rankonesport.com in your browser

  2. Click on the “For Parents” tab

  3. Click on “Login”

  4. Click on “Texas”

  5. Click on “All Saints Episcopal School – Lubbock”  (There are multiple All Saints Episcopal Schools)

  6. Click on “Proceed to Online Forms”

  7. Click on “Create New Account”

  8. Follow instructions to set up your parent portal.  You will need an email and you will be prompted to create a password.  Please keep a record of this information for future use.

  9. Once your account is set up you must link it to your child.  Enter the name and their All Saints Student ID number. The ID #s were sent to all high school parents from Kyle Simons.

  10. Once your child (children) are linked to your account proceed with accessing the online forms.  There will be three sections of forms:

  1.  TAPPS Physical/Medical History – Please submit the Medical History, the school will enter the physical once we have the hard copy and the account is set up.

  2. TAPPS Student Profile

  3. TAPPS Signature Page

  1. Fill out the forms with electronic signatures for yourself and your child for the TAPPS Student Profile and TAPPS Signature Page.  Make sure to click “submit” on each form.  Once those forms are complete they will show on the computer and we can certify eligibility.  Again, once eligibility is confirmed it will carry over to all future TAPPS competitions for this academic year.
