Luke Stuart, Sr., All Saints Episcopal

Stuart scored 21 points as the Patriots defeated Amarillo San Jacinto 79 -61 in a non-district game last week.

The four-year varsity starter stepped into a leadership role early in his career and hasn’t disappointed.

“He obviously has been kind of the leader for our team even as a freshman,” All Saints coach Robert Brashear said. “He has been one of the leaders on this three-four year run that we have been on as a program. As far as his success, he is the first in the gym and the last to leave the gym. One of the biggest contributors to his success, I think, is there are a lot of other guys wired like he is on our team.

“For all four years, he has been surrounded by players that love each other and love basketball and love competing together. So, good players make each other better.”

Stuart received 67.3 percent of the votes in the Lone Star Varsity Athletes of the Week poll to earn the victory.

The Patriots face Midland Trinity at 7:30 p.m. Friday on the road.,-stuart-named-lone-star-varsity-athletes-of-the-week/
