All Saints is excited to welcome Amy Garcia-Smith to the team as an instructor in our new Movement and Mindfulness class for Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten students. She is a certified Child Life Specialist (MS, CCLS) with additional training in kids yoga (RYT-200) and mindfulness and meditation.
The class focuses on three core principles: Movement, Active Meditation, and Mindfulness activities. All Saints students are learning age-appropriate movement with fun-activities that are geared towards creating a growth-mindset that focuses on the development of success through hard work. Mantras such as “I can do hard things” and “I got this” are developed. The meditation activities increase focus and develop the students’ ability to be in the present. The mindfulness activities, including breathing techniques, facilitate emotion regulation. They learn that “breath is their superpower.” Breath can both calm their bodies and/or create energy.
The Movement and Mindfulness classes are just one way that All Saints offers our Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten students a place where learning and play intertwine.
