Luke Stuart, Lonestar Athlete of the Week!
The junior scored a game high 37 points in All Saints’ 89-67 win over Midland Trinity. The Patriots are 16-7 overall on the season and begin district play next Friday at Christ the King.
“Well, anytime a player has a great individual game, that makes you feel good, especially someone like (Stuart),” All Saints head coach Robert Brashear said. “How hard he works, he has tremendous work ethic and he made all those threes because he’s been in the gym putting up those shots. As coach, even when a player has a great game, what made me more excited was that every one of his baskets came off an assist.”
“It’s been a really rewarding time to have the time to coach (Stuart) and his teammates because they are all hard workers. Luke (Stuart) is obviously our leader as our point guard, but he kind of leads our team as far as work ethic and attitude and when you have your leader as committed as he is, it helps with the rest of the guys.”
Stuart received 69 percent of the votes in the Lone Star Varsity Athlete of the Week poll to clinch the victory.
All Saints (16-7) will play 7 p.m. Friday against Midland Trinity at home.
